Who's that behind those Foster Grants?

500
influencers answered. And they brought their followers with them.

A 90-year-old eyewear icon wanted fresh digital presence for a new generation of style-seekers. ApexDrop activated 500 fashion and lifestyle creators who self-selected the frames, wore them in their real lives, and posted on their own terms. The campaign delivered 194% more content than promised and reached 10.2 million people without a single paid post.

The Challenge

Foster Grant is the #1 non-prescription reading glasses brand worldwide and one of the most recognized names in American eyewear. But category leadership in a retail aisle does not automatically translate to digital presence. The team needed fresh, on-trend content that felt native to how style-conscious shoppers actually discover eyewear today, and they needed that presence to drive real web traffic and engagement.

02

The Approach

ApexDrop activated 500 vetted micro-influencers across fashion and lifestyle verticals. Creators self-selected the frames that matched their aesthetic, received them as gifts, and posted organically to their own audiences. No scripts. No contracts with the brand. Just our air-gap model, which keeps creators independent, keeps content authentic, and keeps Foster Grant FTC-safe.

03

The Result

801 pieces of lifetime-licensed content. A 5.45% engagement rate, comfortably above Instagram fashion benchmarks. 137,000 engagements pulled into the Foster Grant orbit, and 10.2 million people reached through creator audiences the brand could never have bought outright. Most tellingly: 194% over the content volume originally promised, because creators genuinely wanted to post.

We were really happy with the results. Even better than the best.

About the Brand

Foster Grant. Real style, since 1929.

Sam Foster sold his first pair of sunglasses on the Atlantic City boardwalk in 1929, launching what would become The Original American Sunglass Brand®. The iconic "Who's that behind those Foster Grants?" campaign earned a spot on Ad Age's Top 100 Campaigns of the 20th Century, featuring Raquel Welch, Peter Sellers, Mia Farrow, and Cindy Crawford across its runs.

Today Foster Grant is a subsidiary of EssilorLuxottica and the #1 non-prescription reading glasses brand worldwide. The design philosophy distills to two words: real style. Fashion-forward, personal, unpretentious, and always within reach.

About ApexDrop

We make #art, not #ads.

ApexDrop is a micro-influencer platform built on a single premise: the most human brand wins. For over a decade we have connected category-leading CPG and fashion brands to a vetted network of 20,000+ creators who post because they genuinely love the product, not because they were paid to.

Our air-gap model gives brands FTC protection, lifetime content licenses, and engagement rates that outperform paid alternatives. Foster Grant is one of 1,000+ brands we have partnered with. Others include Fresh Express, StarKist, Johnsonville, Moose Toys, and Constellation.
